Housenka Original Movie Announced by Odd Taxi Creators

Studio CLAP is working on a new original film titled Hausenka (Do not touch me). Baku Kinoshita (Strange taxi) is directing the film, which was announced as part of the upcoming Work in Progress segment at the Annecy Film Festival. Kazuya Konomoto, who wrote the film, Strange taxi story, is responsible for the original story and screenplay.

Kinoshita will be present at the panel, which will take place on June 12, 2024, along with concept artist Toge Machinoku and producer Ryoichiro Matsuo.

Annecy describes the plot of Hausenka Movie as:
Autumn 2023. Akutsu, an elderly prisoner serving a life sentence, is about to die alone in his solitary cell. A flower that can speak like humans tells him: “What a miserable life you've had.” During their “conversation,” Akutsu begins to reflect on his past. Summer 1986. Akutsu lives with Nana, a woman six years younger than him, and their son Kensuke in a shabby apartment with a garden full of incense flowers. A victorious comeback of a dying yakuza in one night and the story of his family, told by a flower that blooms in prison.

CLAP previously animated The tunnel to summer, the exit of farewell (2022), Pompo: The Cinéphile (2021) and Kono Sekai no Tanoshimikata: Secret Story Movie (2020). The studio has released a short teaser for Housenka:
