US man stabs four girls in cinema and two more at McDonald's; caught after chase

A man armed with a knife and involved in a murder case attacked four girls in a movie theater and injured two others in a McDonald's in the US state of Massachusetts on Saturday during his stabbing rampage.

The first incident was reported at the AMC Braintree 10 cinema, when the man launched an unprovoked attack on four girls between the ages of 9 and 17 in the town of Braintree. He entered the complex, walked past the ticket counter and entered one of the cinemas without paying for the ticket.

He stabbed the four girls and fled without saying a word. The four were taken to hospitals in Boston where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A cinema employee told media that the suspect was wearing “an oversized trench coat, sunglasses and a long blonde wig.” CBS Boston said that after rampaging at the movie theater, the suspect fled to Plymouth, another Massachusetts city, where he attacked a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man at a McDonald's.

The couple suffered stab wounds.

“Preliminary investigation indicates a likely connection to a previous incident at a Braintree movie theater in which four juveniles sustained non-life-threatening injuries,” Massachusetts State Police said.

The suspect then led police on a chase and was eventually arrested after crashing a car at a location in the town of Sandwich, also in Massachusetts. The alleged attacker is also said to be connected to murder investigations in Deep River, Connecticut. They had previously identified the vehicle based on footage from the movie theater and McDonald's.

One person was found dead at the scene and a suspect was taken into custody in Massachusetts. There is no active threat to the public, Connecticut State Police said after issuing an alert for the suspect, describing him as “armed and dangerous” with a 10-inch knife. CBS Boston reported.
