Cannes 2024 In Competition winners: Anora wins the Palme d'Or, All We Imagine As Light takes the Jury Grand Prix, Jesse Plemons, Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldana win Best Actor – see the full list!

The 77th Cannes Film Festival has announced the winners of the In Competition category and Indian cinema has every reason to celebrate. Payal Kapadias Everything we imagine as light won the Grand Prix of the Jury, the first Indian film ever to do so. The film about two Malaysian immigrant nurses in Mumbai was also the first Indian film in 30 years to be shown in this category; Shaji N Karun's Swahili (also in Malayalam) in 1994 was the last Indian film to do so. The main prize, the prestigious Palme d’Or, was won by Sean Baker with Anora. The film about a stripper who marries a Russian and gets into trouble with his rich family starred Mikey Madison. In other categories, Chidananda S Naik won the La Cinef Prize for Sunflowers were the first to knowAnasuya Sengupta was the first Indian woman to win the Best Actress award in Un Certain Regard for. The Shameless. All in all, a great year for Indian cinema at Cannes!
