Britney Spears praises video by Michael Jackson accuser Wade Robson about “trauma”

Music

Britney Spears showed solidarity with a video that her former boyfriend and longtime choreographer Wade Robson posted about the trauma after he accused Michael Jackson of abuse for years.

“It warms my heart to see an older man take the time to talk about a topic like this!!!” the 42-year-old pop superstar wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post on Friday alongside a black-and-white video of Wade.

In the clip, which the 41-year-old dancer originally posted to his profile on May 10, he promoted his podcast “From Trauma to Triumph,” writing in the caption that the episode featured an interview with Dr. Peter A. Levine, an expert on “dissociation, shame, self-compassion, and the role of community in healing.”

The doctor said in the video that it was not necessary to remember all the details of his traumatic past in order to be healed from it, which resonated with Spears.

In her repost, the “Toxic” singer wrote about some of the difficult experiences she had to endure during her 13-year conservatorship, adding, “I don't want to remember these things… but I see now that I can't face my past. How am I supposed to move on when I don't know where I've been???”

Spears then claimed that she “f***ing hates” alcohol – despite often being seen with a drink in her hand while on vacation – and denied taking drugs. She also claimed that she is seeing a therapist.

The “Oops! … I Did It Again” singer ended her message by once again praising the “older man” in the video – although it's unclear if she was talking about Wade or Dr. Levine, who is also featured.

“I wanted to share this because it really touched me to hear this older man speak about something that is incredibly close to my heart!!!” she wrote.

“I completely understand what he is saying and I think I am going to cry for the rest of my life now!!!”

Page Six reached out to Wade's rep for comment but did not receive an immediate response.

Spears and the choreographer have a long and complex history.

They collaborated on several of the Grammy winner's music videos and world tours, and the “Womanizer” singer even cheated on her ex Justin Timberlake with Wade.

“We went out one night and went to a Spanish bar. We danced and danced. I made out with him that night,” she wrote in her book “The Woman in Me,” which was published last October.

This indiscretion led the now 43-year-old “Cry Me a River” singer to confront Robson when Spears hosted “Saturday Night Live” in 2002 and to break up with her via text message shortly thereafter.

It does not appear that Robson and Spears had a friendship. In recent years, the choreographer has spoken out about the alleged abuse he suffered at the hands of Jackson as a child.

Robson and actor James Safechuck recounted what they allegedly endured in the HBO documentary “Leaving Neverland” in 2019. Among other things, Robson claimed that the “Smooth Criminal” singer sexually harassed and raped him between the ages of 7 and 14.

Both men have also filed several lawsuits, one of which was dismissed in 2017. It was then revived under a California law that encourages survivors and witnesses of sexual assault to testify in court, but was dismissed again in 2021.

The judge wrote in his decision at the time that there was “no evidence to support the plaintiff’s claim.”

However, in August 2023, the California Court of Appeals ruled that Robson and 46-year-old Safechuck could face trial on their abuse allegations.

Spears' support of her former flame was met with mixed reviews online.

One person wrote about X: “The way Michael Jackson did nothing but good for everyone only to be rewarded with lies and betrayal never ceases to amaze. Shame on everyone Michael helped in their own lives and careers. Including this bitch [sic] “Britney.”

However, another who disagreed chimed in: “Britney never said Michael Jackson was innocent, you clowns.”

During Jackson's lifetime, Spears was a huge supporter and fan of the King of Pop and even presented him with an award at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2002.
