The best new streaming shows and movies on Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV, Hulu and more

We've reached the last weekend of May. There's a lot of good stuff coming out in June, but there's a pretty solid slate of new shows and movies this week too, and of course we still have one week left in the month. Next Saturday we jump into June with shows like The young And House of the Dragon Return.

There are a few new video-on-demand releases this weekend, a really poorly reviewed Jennifer Lopez movie on Netflix, and much, much more. Let's take a look, shall we?

Check out last weekend's streaming guide here.

What to see this weekend

Evil (Thursdays on Paramount+)

I have not seen Devilish but I played D&D while a friend watched, so I listened and it sounds pretty spooky! It sounds like it's gotten better over time, which isn't usually the case with TV shows. I like other shows that deal with the demonic and paranormal, and this sounds a bit like a newer, spookier X files.

South Park: Ending Obesity (Paramount+)

I enjoy the South Park Specials – longer episodes that are basically mini-movies, covering various hot topics like COVID-19. This episode is all about weight loss drugs like Ozempic. I can only imagine where this is going.

Atlas (Netflix)

Netflix's $100 million JLo science fiction film fails with critics. It receives worse reviews than Rebel Moon Part 2 (15% at Rotten Tomatoes) and almost as bad as Madame Web (11%). Ouch.

Tires (Netflix)

I honestly don't know Shane Gillis, but I guess he's a controversial comedian. Now he has a scripted series on Netflix about a guy who inherits his dad's chain of auto repair shops. The description reads: “Will (Steven Gerben), the nervous and unqualified heir to a chain of auto repair shops, tries to turn his father's business around, despite constant torment from his cousin and current employee Shane (Gillis).”

Mulligan Part 2 (Netflix)

As with many Netflix shows these days, Mulligan was split into two parts. The animated series for adults by 30 rocks And Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Alumni Robert Carlock and Sam Means will be streaming this weekend.

The Beach Boys (Disney Plus)

A documentary about The Beach Boys. What else do you need to know? It sounds like it's not new territory for the band, but it should be of interest to anyone who wants to know more about Brian Wilson and the rest of the guys. There are also some previously unreleased recordings.

Dune: Part Two (Max)

Dennis Villeneuve’s epic second half dune is out this weekend at Max, so if you missed it in theaters (it's definitely a movie!) you can watch it now. And you should! It's pretty good, although I definitely had some issues with it. Read my review here.

The Fall Guy (VOD)

I'm surprised a film starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt didn't do better at the box office. They're both such big, likable stars. Pretty solid reviews for an action film. But I guess that's not enough these days. After only three weeks Colt for the fall is already available to rent or buy. (View on Amazon)

Civil War (VOD)

I really enjoyed this film – here's my review – but it was controversial. I guess that's appropriate when dealing with a subject that is inherently divisive. (Watch on Amazon)

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

I'll try, Furious this weekend. I'll be honest, the first trailer didn't look good, but the subsequent ones were better and it's getting good reviews, although not as good as the incredible Street of Rage.

Current Shows

Dark Matter (Wednesdays on Apple TV+)

I have caught up Dark matter on Apple TV and it's pretty good! A cool mystery with some intriguing sci-fi elements. I'm still a few episodes behind.

I also ate Sugar on Apple TV and it was excellent. I've been meaning to write a review for a while, but it's been a super hectic week with the end of the school year and everything that comes with it.

Other than that, I haven't watched much. I'm going to try and get some of my British police drama kick this week with Blue lights Season 2 and hopefully also start Relationship. I really need to catch up X-Men 97.
