Cheryl Fergison's dog begs ITV to give her Alison Hammond's job

Former EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison's dog is apparently begging to take over Alison Hammond's role as presenter on ITV's For the Love of Dogs. And yes, you read that right.

The This Morning star now presents the show, a development that came after the death of Paul O Grady in March 2023.

Previously, Heather Trott actress Cheryl claimed that Paul wanted her to take over as host of the popular show.

Following the announcement of Alison's new role, Cheryl took to Instagram to say that she was convinced Paul would have “definitely given her his blessing for this job.”

In a chat guaranteed to get tails wagging (sorry), she said: “You know, I can get busy with most things, I'm not begging for a job. I'm just telling you that I'm perfect for a lot of jobs but you don't put me forward for them, don't let me go for them and I don't know why. I wish Alison Hammond the best of luck in choosing For The Love Of Dogs.

“But I'm telling you now, Paul O'Grady would definitely have given me his blessing to do this job because I have a dog, we've talked about our dogs quite a bit and I've always had dogs in my life and, um, yeah, dogs are the best, it's as simple as that.”

Now Cheryl is back in the FTLOD hype with X, claiming her little dog Rosie wants to work with the dogs at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Sharing a selfie next to the dog, Cheryl wrote: “Woof woof wagging tail Rosie asking if there's a job for her mummy @itv @itvFLOD 🐶”.

As far as talented dogs go, it would certainly be a first if Cheryl's beloved pet was in the starting blocks as a presenter of an ITV show.

Perhaps it is best to leave it to Alison Hammond, at least for now.

Cheryl left EastEnders in 2012 when her popular character Heather was killed off by Ben Mitchell (then played by Joshua Pascoe).

Heather was very popular with fans and always provided comedic entertainment with her best friend Shirley Carter (Linda Henry).
