When will the 2024 NBA Draft take place? Dates, how to watch, possible Kentucky tips

Basketball fans are rejoicing because the NBA Draft will take place next month following the NBA Draft Lottery on Sunday.

This year the draft will take place over two days in June, creating more excitement for sports fans. Even though you won't be able to see the draft picks front and center, they will be broadcast live in New York both nights.

“Two nights of prime-time coverage will…enhance the viewing experience for our fans and shine an even greater spotlight on draftees,” said Joe Dumars, executive vice president and head of basketball operations, in a press release issued in January.

When is the 2024 NBA Draft?

The 2024 NBA Draft will take place on June 26th and 27th in New York.

This year the draft will take place in two different rounds – the first taking place on June 26 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn; and the second round will take place on June 27 at ESPN's Seaport District studios in New York.

Where to watch the 2024 NBA Draft?

According to the NBA website, the first round of the NBA Draft will air on ABC, ESPN and the ESPN app and the second round will air on ESPN and the ESPN app. Coverage begins at 8 p.m. both evenings

“ESPN's second round presentation will include a comprehensive review of the first round and an in-depth narrative about the draftees,” the website says.

How much time will there be between NBA draft picks?

According to a press release, there will be five minutes between first-round draft picks and four minutes between second-round draft picks.

“Based on feedback from basketball executives across the league on the NBA Draft format and my own experience in draft rooms, we believe teams will benefit from being able to regroup between rounds and in the second round have more time to make decisions,” Dumars said.

The NBA Draft Lottery took place on Sunday at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago.

Who is the first pick of the NBA draft?

The Atlanta Hawks won the first pick of the NBA Draft in the draft lottery on Sunday.

“The remainder of the lottery teams will select 5th through 14th in reverse order of their records in 2023-24 regular season games,” the NBA website states.
