NBA warns fans after apparent interaction with Kyrie Irving in Game 1 of Mavs-Thunder

The NBA appears more than willing to deal with unwanted player-fan interactions this postseason.

Shortly after Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals between the Mavericks and Thunder, Juan Guerra II expressed some complaints on Twitter/X. The Oklahoma City fan apparently exchanged a few words with Kyrie Irving during the match, leading to a warning from the NBA and a near expulsion.

Guerra posted two images of the league's announcements on his social media: including red warning card.

The card read as follows: “You are warned that the comments, gestures and/or conduct you have directed towards players, coaches, game officials, stadium staff and/or spectators violate the NBA Fan Code of Conduct.” This is the first and only warning you receive. If you continue to violate the NBA Fan Code of Conduct after receiving this warning, you will be ejected from the arena immediately without refund.”

Accordingly The Oklahoman, Guerra has attended almost every Thunder game in Oklahoma City. The only time he missed action was during the 2020-21 season, when fans were largely kept away from arenas due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Two minutes into the game, @KyrieIrving, the soft man, already got me one of these for throwing the ball back to me when I threw it to the ref who was going the other way. “We are already in his shoes,” Guerra wrote on social media.

Irving and the Mavericks will try to even the series in Game 2 on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. in Oklahoma City.
