New Delhi:

Listen up, people. Actor-director Deepak Tijori recently addressed a misunderstanding regarding his statement regarding Saif Ali Khan's ex-wife Amrita Singh. In a recent interview, Deepak mentioned that he was quoted in reports as saying that Amrita allegedly tried to stop Saif from making a guest appearance in the film Pehla Nasha. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Deepak now clarified that his statement was “misinterpreted”. He explained: “I recently said something that was misconstrued. I was asked how I managed to get so many actors for the premiere scene Pehla Nasha. I replied, “We were all friends.” So we supported each other in every way we could.”

Deepak Tijori continued, “Then I said, 'When Saif Ali Khan was getting ready, Amrita Singh asked him where he was going. He then said, “I will be shooting for the premiere scene in Deepak's film.” To which Amrita replied, “Kya baat hai. Your generation of actors is different. We never supported each other in that way. AAP registration is not required'. That was my quote. However, it was released that Amrita had stopped Saif from going to the premiere. I have never said that. Amrita was just amazed to see the connection between Saif and other actors. In their day, they didn’t help each other.”

Praising Amrita Singh, Deepak Tijori said, “Amrita is a sweetheart and a wonderful woman. As an actress, she has always supported everyone. I didn't work with her. For us, however, her debut film Betaab (1983) was the ultimate film. I must have seen it a hundred times.”

Deepak Tijori concluded by saying, “Itna ghatiya Quote Bana diya hai. I wake up and it hurts me when I see the news. I have never said that.”

In case you missed it, a few days back, in a Zoom interaction, Deepak Tijori shared, “In 1993, there was a film titled Pehla Nasha that we were shooting and surprisingly there was a scene in that film where we all wanted celebrities to come to my character's premiere in the film. Ashutosh Gowariker was the director and we had friends. There was a moment where I was really surprised by something that happened. Apparently Shah Rukh, Saif and Aamir came.”

“Saif prepared, that was his version. As he was getting ready at home, his then wife Dingy (Amrita Singh) asked, “What are you doing, where are you going?” He said, “I am going to a premiere, I am going to a shoot, so it is Deepak's premiere and I'm going to be a part of it.” So she said, “Really?” How can you do that? We never did any of these things, you know. Who does that?' You go and support someone at a premiere. “It was a moment that came as a shock to me,” Deepak Tijori added.

Deepak Tijori's upcoming directorial project Tipppsy will hit cinema screens on May 10th.
