Nike logo revealed by Victor Wembanyama in epic “Aliens Are Real” commercial

Aliens are real.

That's the message Nike sent in its first marketing campaign for San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama. The video, released Sunday, featured Wembanyama's signature “Alien” logo, which was announced in April.

Wembanyama is the clear favorite to be named Rookie of the Year, averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and an NBA-best 3.6 blocks.

The 20-year-old is the most hyped draft prospect since LeBron James in 2003 and has been just as good as advertised. If anything, he could be ahead of schedule, as it's rare for a standout first-year player to be a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year.

Nike signed Wembanyama when he was still playing professionally in France and achieved early success, which paid off hugely. He is already being discussed as someone who can take over the role of NBA face from Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.

The Frenchman has yet to receive his own signature shoe, which is anything but a formality. Nike has provided some insight into what that might look like.

He wore an exclusive pair of the Air Zoom GT Hustle 2 during All-Star Weekend.

Nike also unveiled a concept shoe for Wembanyama designed using artificial intelligence in April, although it was far from representative of what his signature kicks will look like as a finished product.

“Beyond the world” is an apt description for Wembanyama, as he stands 6ft 9in tall and has skills that simply shouldn’t work for a player his size.

It's no surprise that Nike is banking on its unique status as it positions it as the next big thing in its basketball division.
