Met Gala 2024: What is the theme and dress code?

The 2024 Met Gala dress code is “The Garden of Time,” honoring the theme to coincide with the Costume Institute’s new exhibit. Sleeping Beauty: Resurgent FashionExhibited in the museum from May 10th to September 2nd.

Conceived by Costume Institute Chief Curator Andrew Bolton, the exhibition will feature nearly 250 pieces spanning four centuries, “visually united by an iconography connected to nature, serving as a metaphor for the fragility and transience of fashion and a means to examine the cyclical.” “Themes of rebirth and renewal,” said the Met. “The exhibition will breathe new life into these storied objects through creative and immersive activations designed to convey the smells, sounds, textures and movements of garments that are no longer can interact directly with the body.”
