Former Ohio State University football coach Urban Meyer mourns the loss of Tim Kight

Hardcore Ohio State football fans may know former assistant Tim Kight, who was known for his training videos on organizational success. Kight was on Urban Meyer's team and the two went 83-9 while working together.

Unfortunately, Kight passed away on Saturday evening after battling stage four cancer, via his son Brian's X account.

“I met Tim Kight in the spring of 2013,” Meyer said. “His influence on me personally, on our employees and on our team was profound. He was a fierce competitor and loved helping people get better. A great leader, teacher, mentor and friend. The mercy and grace of God rests upon the Kight family.”

Kight was a motivational speaker for decades before joining Meyer's team. He then further developed his company Focus3 through Premiere Speakers Bureau.

The website featured this hour-long speech in which Kight shared his thoughts on leadership.

Via The Spun's Tvizi Machlin, several other X users were affected by Kight's work.

“Brian, my heart breaks for you and your family,” one user wrote about Machlin. “Your father was so stoic and truly led with his heart and words throughout the entire ordeal. His legacy and energy are limitless and never ending. My condolences.”

“This hurts,” said another user. “I only knew TK for a few years, but the wisdom and things he helped me with will always stay with me. I will use these things and carry them into my future. Whether football, family, business. All the best, TK! Legend!”

Kight was the type of person who flew under the radar but was still vital to the operation around him. Over the course of seven years at Ohio State football, Kight and Meyer won three Big Ten titles and a national championship. It shows that supporting the athlete's mental development is just as important as physical support.
