Oddly enough, the DCEU never got a solo Batman film, even though The Caped Crusader was a big reason for Zack Snyder's decision Batman vs Superman first of all. Ben Affleck's Batman first appeared in Batman vs Superman as an opponent of Superman and then appeared in several films, including Suicide Squad, Justice LeagueAnd The Lightning. After a decade of the DCEU, the Gotham side of the universe was relatively unexplored, with Batman relegated to the sidelines.

Batman has always been an integral part of the DCEU since he first appeared in the universe's second film. Unfortunately, Batman was never quite explored the way Zack Snyder intended, as Snyder's vision for the universe was dashed. Director Zack Snyder recently did an interview with GQ and explains why Batman vs Superman was the sequel to man of Steel instead of a standard Superman sequel. His comments position Bruce Wayne as an important character for the entire DCEU. Here is his full quote on the topic:

Once you talk about the fact that Bruce Wayne exists in the same world as Superman, right? Then you are looking for a Batman concept. You have to finish this thought. Well, Man of Steel 2, if you were to do it, you know, with Brainiac or whatever you're going to do, which it certainly could have been… and maybe it is, you're holding it up for a movie, and it is possible. I just felt like I needed to know what Bruce thought about it, like Bruce's opinion on the near-destruction of the world. And it really depends on how important you think Batman is in the Trinity

Batman vs Superman is about how the world reacts to a character like Superman, and the greatest narrative force behind the film, in particular, is Bruce Wayne's reaction to him. Snyder's comments about needing to know how Bruce reacted to the events of man of Steel show how important Batman is to the entire mythology of the DC Universe. If Bruce Wayne was as important as Snyder thought, part of the Trinity, then it's all the more baffling that a Ben Affleck solo film never materialized.

This is especially true considering Batman's backstory is one of the biggest question marks in the franchise. While the main elements of the Batman mythos are clearly present, a closer examination of the reasons why he became so violent may have made his unique characterization clearer from the audience's perspective. However, “Batman/Bruce Wayne” isn’t as polished without them Batman vs Superman or Justice League as it should have been.

The DCEU film “Missing Batman” makes the Dark Knight easier to build

Of course, behind-the-scenes drama played an important role in the development of the DCEU. Warner Bros. preferred Matt Reeves' younger version of Batman, set in his own universe. This left a huge hole in the DCEU that was never fixed. The lack of a Batman movie in a shared universe is good for the new DCU as it prepares for it The brave and the brave, another iteration of the character that highlights his relationship with his son Damien Wayne. This gives the new universe the chance to delve deeper into the Batman mythology than before, along with other DC heroes.

As seen from Snyder's comments, it's about how important Batman is to the Trinity, and it's strange that at the end of the universe he didn't feel as important as he could have been.

It's a shame that Ben Affleck's Batman never got a solo film after his storyline Batman vs Superman To Justice League. The divisive reception and studio drama ensured that it never happened, despite Batman being an integral part of the DCEU. Snyder knew this when he needed to know how Bruce Wayne would react to the events man of Steel. As seen from Snyder's comments, it's about how important Batman is to the Trinity, and it's strange that at the end of the universe he didn't feel as important as he could have been.
