Surveillance video captures chaotic moments of the Seminole shooting that left 10 people injured

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla – During a press conference Monday, Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma released surveillance video to Cabana Live showing the moments shots rang out inside the restaurant and bar.

According to the arrest report, two people began arguing when a bystander, later identified as 16-year-old Christopher Bouie, turned over an open fire.

“It's clear that anyone looking at this has the impression that the physical altercation and the shooting are probably related,” Lemma said. “But we will work to connect these dots, but we don’t know of any relationship at this time. Between Bouie and the people physically wrestling on the floor or the other person, it seems like they're returning fire from across the room.”

Lemma said the gun Bouie owned was purchased legally in Miami in 2018.

“We don't know where the gun has been for the last six years, but we do know that the gun is not registered as stolen, and of course the back story of how Christopher Bouie came into possession of this gun is something we don't know “We'll look at that as this investigation progresses,” Lemma said.

Lemma said they are also looking for a second person who fired their weapon, but for unknown reasons.

“This unknown individual may well be justified under Florida's self-defense laws to draw a weapon and return fire if someone shoots him,” Lemma said. “We just don’t know the circumstances. Until we can find this person and talk to them.”

Lemma estimated that 200 people gathered at the “Nobody Leaves Sober Pool Party” party on Saturday and said there were 10 armed security guards there. However, Lemma said that the organizers who hosted the event did not have the appropriate permit.

Lemma confirmed Monday that Tank Dell, a wide receiver for the Houston Texans, was also injured in the shooting. Dell attended high school in Daytona Beach.

“I don’t know if we can say this would never have happened without the permitting process, but I do know that rules are in place for a reason,” Lemma said. “I think rules have to be followed. So I think the district will look into that and look into it as well.”

Lemma also praised the security guard who tackled Bouie shortly after the shooting began.

“I mean, he literally attacked this guy from behind, took him to the ground and handed him over to us in handcuffs,” Lemma said.
