Sir Jim Ratcliffe 'furious' over dressing room leaks at Old Trafford – Man United News and Transfer News

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly “furious” about the constant leaks from Manchester United's dressing room, as well as disciplinary problems across the squad – issues that have plagued the club on several occasions in the era following Sir Alex Ferguson's various managers.

According to HITC, sources at Old Trafford reveal that United's new co-owner has announced that his new management structure “will not tolerate any further indiscipline at any level of the club, with a particular focus on the players”.

One particular area that Ratcliffe is particularly unhappy with is players using social media to criticize or complain about internal matters, as Alejandro Garnacho did on Saturday evening after the disappointing 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

The Argentina winger was withdrawn at half-time and Erik ten Hag revealed in his post-match interview that he felt the right side needed to be “fixed” when asked about the decision. Later that evening, Garnacho “liked” tweets posted by a United fan channel

Ten Hag has reportedly already had discussions with Garnacho about the incident, which is described as an “internal matter” and was resolved immediately. The Argentine showed his remorse by quickly removing his likes, and a source at the club revealed that this was now “completely no longer an issue”.

Nevertheless, Ratcliffe and other members of the United hierarchy are believed to have been particularly unhappy about the incident, believing it was a continuation of behavior that had become rampant at Old Trafford in recent years.

Earlier in the season, Jadon Sancho took X one step further by directly criticizing Ten Hag after the Dutchman decided to leave the winger out of the squad for the trip to Arsenal. The 24-year-old was immediately banned from the first team and told that only a direct apology to his manager would allow him to return to the squad.

While Garnacho showed remorse for his actions, Sancho refused to back down. This led to him training with the youth teams for almost four months and eventually being sent out on loan for a reunion with Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window.

There have been some reports suggesting that Ratcliffe and his INEOS Sport team could be open to a return for Sancho to Old Trafford this summer, particularly if Ten Hag were to leave United at the end of the season itself. However, HITC's report reveals that Ratcliffe has “already made it known that he supports Ten Hag in the Sancho situation”, with the club looking to sell the England winger rather than reintegrate him.

Ratcliffe has refused to give a definitive answer on Ten Hag's own long-term future at Old Trafford, choosing to meet the club's new executive, including Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox, and possibly Dan Ashworth, at the end of the season.

While this move by the British billionaire to back Ten Hag over Sancho could be construed as tacit support for the Dutchman, it is far more likely that it is a crystal clear instruction to the rest of the United squad about what kind of behavior is acceptable and which ones are not under the INEOS regime – a radical increase in expectations of standards compared to previous years.

And although Ratcliffe is considered a “big fan of many aspects of the work Ten Hag did during his time in Manchester”, the “decisive factor” in his support for the Dutchman was always how United ended the year.

One win in their last seven Premier League games has left Ten Hag's position extremely weakened as his team heads towards one of the worst seasons in the club's history. Although INEOS owner Ten Hag has supported his desire to see Sancho leave, it is becoming increasingly likely that the Dutch coach will follow the same path as the England winger, barring an unlikely recovery in the next six weeks comes.
