I am a former Super Bowl champion and now play in the UFL

SUPER Bowl champion Ryan Santoso wants to become an airline pilot – and take his career in the UFL to a new level.

The veteran NFL kicker has revived his football career after making a surprise return with the UFL's San Antonio Brahmas.

Santoso, who last played in 2021, signed a contract with the Brahmas last week as a replacement for Donald De La Haye Jr. following an injury.

And the 28-year-old immediately broke through by hitting both field goals in the 31-24 loss to the St. Louis Battlehawks over the weekend.

“It feels great. It feels good to run on the field.” Santoso told ABC.

“I hit a few field goals. Just being out here with the guys again, being in the locker room…

“It’s a great community, there’s nothing better than football.”

“I got into a great situation with these guys and it’s been a lot of fun so far.”

Santoso combines his football return with studying to become an airline pilot at Liberty University's School of Aeronautics.

He even had a call-out on Monday after playing in the UFL on Sunday.

“I try to manage my time pretty well,” Santoso said.

“I did homework before practice and after practice.

“But obviously that’s the number one priority now.”

I spent nine years primarily as an NFL backup quarterback – I left the UFL and came back to the UFL because I wanted my kids to see me play

After a college career at Minnesota, Santoso signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2018.

He bounced around the league, securing brief playing time with the Carolina Panthers and Lions.

Santoso was able to secure a Super Bowl ring as a member of the Los Angeles Rams practice squad in 2021.

His last NFL appearance was with the New York Giants in August 2022 before returning to play in the UFL this month.

Santoso played soccer as a child and is extremely grateful to have secured a career as a kicker in the NFL.

“I was blessed with a really cool, talented leg,” he told The Athletic.

“Minnesota gave me a chance and then was just lucky enough to turn it into a job.”

“And it was incredible. It’s been a blessing the whole time.”

“A lot of people supported me, pushed me and encouraged me to just keep chasing the dream. I’m just living the journey.”

“And just accept the fight because there have been some ups and downs.

“But it’s all a blessing because you learn from the lows and rejoice in the highs.”
