Here's a recent European soccer story from AP:

NYON, Switzerland (AP) — This week's Champions League games will go ahead as planned despite the terror threat posed by the Islamic State, European soccer's governing body said Tuesday.

Several posters purporting to be from the Al-Azaim Foundation – a media arm of ISIS-K – were circulating on social media, calling for attacks on the four stadiums hosting the games this week. The Associated Press was unable to verify the authenticity of the posts.

“UEFA is aware of suspected terrorist threats in relation to this week’s UEFA Champions League matches and is in close contact with the authorities at the respective venues,” UEFA said in a statement. “All games should take place as scheduled and appropriate safety precautions should be taken.”

Two games are planned in Madrid. Real Madrid hosts Manchester City on Tuesday and Atlético Madrid hosts Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

Arsenal play Bayern Munich in London on Tuesday and Paris Saint-Germain host Barcelona the following day.

“I would like to reassure the public that we have a robust policing plan in place for today's game (in London) and continue to work closely with the club's security team to ensure the game is peaceful,” said Ade Adelekan, assistant deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police said.

France's Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said police had significantly increased security around the Parc des Princes in Paris.

“We have seen, among other things, a statement from the Islamic State that specifically targets stadiums. This is nothing new,” Darmanin said. “This morning we asked the Director General of Internal Security to communicate the information we have with the other (security) services of the other countries hosting the quarterfinals.”

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack on the Crocus Hall concert hall outside Moscow on March 22, in which 144 people were killed.

The second leg of the Champions League is scheduled for next week.

PSG defender Danilo said he and his teammates needed to “focus on football” but coach Luis Enrique said the threat was worrying.

“Who wouldn’t worry about that? Of course we are worried,” said the PSG coach. “We hope it’s just a threat and that nothing happens.”
