Many apps offer free TV if you're willing to watch commercials.

You'll usually be shown commercials on cable TV anyway, so this shouldn't have much of an impact on your viewing habits.

However, you could save money on your monthly bills by switching to free apps.

With a special combination of six apps, you can easily find thousands of channels without paying a dime.

FREE TV channel apps

The apps are:

  • Tubi – 260+ channels
  • Pluto TV – 250+ channels
  • Plex – over 600 channels
  • Amazon Freevee – 450+ channels
  • The Roku Channel – over 400 channels
  • Sling Freestream (via the Sling TV app) – over 400 channels

Overall, at least that works 2,360 channels – and probably more.

All of these apps allow you to watch TV without charging any money.

MOVIE MAGIC

Owners of an Amazon Fire TV Stick can unlock 400 live channels for free – plus 40,000 films and TV shows

All of these apps also provide free movies and TV shows.

Tubi, for example, has a library of 50,000 on-demand TV shows and movies.

And Roku offers up to 80,000 content in its offering, while Plex offers 50,000.

So if you are a film or television fan, there is a wide range of streaming options available to you.

The bills are rising! Stop paying…

Here's what Sean Keach, head of technology and science at The Sun, has to say…

Let's face it: your Netflix subscription isn't getting any cheaper.

And if you only pay for Netflix, you're probably a rarity. You might even pay for Disney+, HBO's Max, and some other premium streamers.

Some paid subscriptions (like Amazon Video) even show you ads. Commercials have been shown on cable television for years.

So if you're already paying money – and already looking through ads – why not try out some free options?

There are no upfront costs or subscription fees for a whole range of streaming apps that also give you movies, TV shows and live channels.

So you can try them without incurring any fees.

There's no good reason why you shouldn't try a few of these out to see if you can cut down on your premium streaming subscriptions.

And don't forget: Amazon Fire TV isn't the only one that offers free content. Many of these apps also offer free TV on iPhone, Android, Xbox, PS5 and a range of smart TVs.

If you play your cards right, you could cut your monthly TV bills overnight.
