Do you have to play Silent Hill 1 before Silent Hill 2? – GameSkinny

We don't know when the remake of Silent Hill 2 will be officially released, but there are signs that this could happen as early as May. However, Konami hasn't started making remakes since the first part of the series. So, do you have to play? Silent Hill 1 Before Silent Hill 2?

Is Silent Hill 2 a standalone game?

no you don't have to play Silent Hill 1 Before Silent Hill 2. Although they are part of the same series, their stories are mostly independent. Therefore, Konami doesn't have to worry about holding an overarching plot together and can recreate a fan-loved game instead of SH1 first. The biggest contribution that SH1 makes to SH2 is the context of the city and its nightmarish world. However, the focus on James and his trauma makes this information unnecessary to understand the story.

The stories of Silent Hill 1 and 3 are connected

The only main game that requires SH1 should be played first Silent Hill 3. That's because their stories are connected. You play as Heather in SH3. She is the complete soul of Alessa and Cheryl SH1 and Harry Mason's adopted daughter. Because of this constellation, the third game could be viewed as a continuation of the first game. It ultimately ends the Order's attempts to use Alessa/Heather to give birth to their god and free her from her past.

While you don't have to play Silent Hill 1 Before Silent Hill 2, it's a good way to pass the time while we wait for information about when the remake will be released. However, it's currently difficult to get a copy of the original games to play, considering they're not available digitally for modern consoles.
