Nolan Smith confirmed that UGA playing the role of underdog was complete nonsense

I'm going to do something I never do and publish a story that's a whole year old. Why? Because I wrote the whole thing before I realized it dates back to April 2023, not 2024. Plus, we never did it back then, so you may not have even seen it.

But yes, we have a post titled “Playing the disrespect card is one of the greatest achievements of brainwashing in Georgia.”

This came after the Bulldogs beat TCU 65-7 in the national title game when Nolan Smith came out and told everyone that his team was motivated by disrespect, in part because people believed they would that year Win 7:5. On the surface, it was ridiculous, the thought of an SEC juggernaut playing with a manufactured chip on its shoulder.

Smith, now a Philadelphia Eagle, told our sister site's Connor O'Gara Saturday in the south that the whole thing was made:

“You have to create your own narrator. Sometimes you have to put the chip on your own shoulder. But we had a huge goal in front of us, as we saw in the Missouri game… Sometimes you have to push the guys, especially when you were an old man last year. I just wanted everyone to know that I’ve been saying it all summer.”

The good thing is that Smith doesn't have to make anything in Philadelphia. The Eagles collapsed “severely” last season, as Donald Trump would say. There should be enough motivation to put the embarrassment of 2023 behind you and get back to playing top-level football. I want to see Vic Fangio turn Nolan Smith into fucking Reggie White. I want to see the quarterback lying on the grass. Preferably Dak Prescott.

Go birds.
